emdee shipping and maritime college

Scores of eager candidates of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) have been besieging the campuses of some maritime institutions in Lagos to inquire about their admission status.
The rush which became noticeable early last week was ahead of the October 31 deadline given by JAMB to the maritime colleges to tidy up their admission.
Shipping Position Daily received telephone calls from several anxious JAMB candidates seeking clarifications about these schools.
However most of the enquiries were about the location of Emdee Shipping and Maritime College in Apapa, Lagos.
Majority of those who called last week acknowledged their ignorance about the maritime industry and shipping in particular, but expressed willingness to take advantage of their being offered admission by JAMB to study shipping.
From our telephone interactions with them, it was also discovered that many of them are also based in Lag and adjoining states.
Confirming the development, the Registrar of Emdee Shipping and Maritime College; Mrs Otuyemi Laide told our correspondent also last week that the college is fully prepared for the new intakes.
“We have been expecting them; we have the facilities that will make their learning rewarding one. As a matter of fact, many of them have already been here, you know that admission will close by end of October”, she disclosed.
Asked specifically about the facilities that are on ground, the Registrar confirmed that the college now has a full-facilities hostel and a well –equipped library as well as modern lecture halls.
“We are serious about it when we said that Emdee Shipping and Maritime College will receive the first batch of JAMB candidates into the Nigerian maritime industry”.
